Tracy Lee Haynes, 53, of Hanceville, Alabama, passed away at his home on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. Tracy was born to Jerry and Margie Haynes on March 21,1973 in East Chicago, Indiana.When he was 6 years old, the family moved to Hanceville, Alabama, close to most of his extended family, where he lived for the remainder of his life.

Tracy was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. He had an exceptionally kind heart and has literally given people the shirt off his back. One of his greatest joys was entertaining his friends by playing his guitar at parties and local events. Tracy’s musical journey began when he started playing for the Hanceville High School band when he was only in 5th grade. He excelled as a trumpet and baritone player and became section leader of the Low Brass. Naturally gifted in music, he taught himself how to play the guitar when he was 14 years old. Over the years he was a part of several local bands and developed close friendships with many of his fellow musicians. In 2015, he played guitar for Brick Avenue, a very successful local band, who won the first Battle of the Bands competition and opened for Rock the South that year.

In addition to his musical talents, he also was gifted academically and had the highest score in the state on the ASVAB test. This led to him being heavily recruited by the US Army; however, he instead opted to study music at Wallace State Community College and then eventually went on to get a degree in auto mechanics. He was an avid football fan, loving Auburn and the Green Bay Packers. His greatest love was rock music, with Led Zeppelin, Metallica, and Def Leppard being some of his favorite bands, just to name a few. He also had a love for drawing, Star Wars, model cars, foosball, NASCAR (especially Dale Earnhardt, Sr), and animals of all types.

As his medical problems worsened towards the end of his life, his concern for others and his desire “not to be a burden” was still evident daily. The nurses and other medical staff continually commented about how sweet he was and how he never complained, even when he had a reason to. Though his time here was shorter than we would like, we take comfort in knowing he is with his Heavenly Father and that we will see him again one day.

Survivors include his mother, Margie Haynes; his father, Jerry Haynes; his sisters, Janna (Bart) Absher, and Judy (Steve) Skinner; his de facto brother and best friend, Brian Blalock; his niece, Ella Absher; his nephew, Brady Absher; a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins; several other people who held a special place in his heart; and his dog, Bandit.

Mr. Haynes was preceded in death by his grandparents and many aunts and uncles.

Visitation services will be held at Hanceville Funeral Home on Saturday, September 12, 2026 from 1:00 - 3:00 pm, with the funeral service following immediately after at 3:00 pm. He will then be laid to rest at his childhood church home, Hopewell Baptist Cemetery.
