IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ruth
Brigham
October 9, 1924 – August 31, 2023
Ruth Brigham passed away peacefully in bed on August 31, 2023. She was 98 years old.
Ruth was born and raised in Hanceville on the Creel family farm. She grew up in family love and matured in Christian faith. She entered the workforce after graduating high school and eventually worked in the fingerprint department at FBI Headquarters in Washington DC. In Washington she met and married her husband Harold in 1949.
Throughout her life Ruth and Harold were involved members of the Hanceville community. They gave limitless time and talent to their children, their town, its school and church. After Harold passed in 1979, Ruth graduated Wallace State Community College as a Licensed Practical Nurse and spent her nursing career at Cullman Regional Hospital.
In her final years Ruth has been a vital member of the Hanceville Nursing Home community. Her steady cheer was an inspiration to residents and staff alike. She exercised dedication to the grandest obligations and the smallest pursuits. Whether serving as Queen for an extended reign due to activity lockdowns, playing in the bell choir, or walking down the hall for a cup of coffee, Ruth radiated purpose and joy. She knew her friends there as her family and the Home as her home, and wished to pass peacefully there in her sleep. God granted this wish to His loyal servant.
Ruth is survived by her sons John and Tim, her daughter Jeannie and her brother Don; daughter-in-law Rose and son-in-law Mark; sisters-in-law Wanda and Linda; grandchildren Brigham, Bailey and and Eli; great grandchildren Henry, Ann Bennett and Maggie. Ruth was preceded in death by husband Harold; parents R.E. Creel and Naomi Creel; siblings / spouses Elwyn and Louise, James, Bonnie and Durwood, Leo and Francis, and Robert Creel.
A Celebration of Life will be held on October 9 at Baldwin Church of Christ. Time tbd.
Special thanks are extended to the congregation of Baldwin Church of Christ and the staff of Hanceville Nursing Home. Your love and devotion were treasured.
