Randy was born on January 8, 1970 to Bobby and Mary Cookesy in Cobb County, GA. He passed away at his residence in Hanceville, AL on August 18, 2026. For over three decades, Randy was a treasured member of Gardendale First Baptist Church, where his faith and spirit were a part of his everyday life. His sense of community was shown in the way he lived his life. He was ready to offer help whenever it was needed.
Randy’s heart was pure, especially when it came to his friends, neighbors, and anyone who needed a helping hand. Whether picking up groceries for family and friends unable to shop for themselves, offering his time to those around him, or simply sharing a smile, Randy had a unique ability to bring comfort and warmth to everyone. He was a man whose strength was evident, but it was his willingness to love others that defined him most. A lover of comic books and superheroes, Randy drew inspiration from art and imagination. These passions showed his own heroic nature as a protector, and a true friend to many. Children were drawn to his gentle demeanor, and people of all ages benefited from his generous heart and compassion. Randy enjoyed his career at Inland Buildings. He took pride not just in his work but also the friendships he built with his coworkers.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Esther Cooksey; grandson, Elijah Suarez; father, Bobby Cooksey; nieces, Whitney Elliott and Stacey Day; and a host of many other nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Mr. Cooksey was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Cooksey; brother, Jeff Cooksey; and sister, Angie Cooksey.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chip Ernest, Wayne Day, Stephen Taylor, David Suarez, Colton Teeling, and Matthew Ernest.
