Funeral service for Mary Lou Phillips, 96, of Hanceville will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 26, 2021 at Hanceville Funeral Home, Reverend Jimmy Sawyer will officiate.  Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery. Family receiving friends beginning at 10 a.m.

The daughter of the late Opal Robert and Sarah Gamble Elsberry died peacefully Tuesday evening with her daughter and granddaughter at her side.  She was a Sunday school teacher for over 30 years, enjoyed gardening and sewing. She made her children's clothes for many years.  She was a loving wife, mother, sister and caregiver to her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharkey (William P., Jr.) Williams; granddaughter, Kim (Jimmy) Mattox; grandson, Eric Bice; 13 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; Lilly (Bice) Jenkins and K.J. Mattox and her loving K-9 friend, Sweet Heidi.  Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Franklin Phillips, Jr.; daughter, Debbie Bice Hann; grandson, Bart Christopher Bice; sisters, Nellie Brown and Flora Helen Couch.
