Obituary

A graveside service for Larry Kenneth Hayes also known as "Honey Bun", 72, of Hanceville will be 3:00 Tuesday February 25th at Mountain Grove Congregational Christian Church Cemetery.  Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Hanceville Funeral Home.

Born November 11, 1952, in Cullman, to Zula and Kenneth Hayes; Larry was a loving husband to Elizabeth Hayes, a supportive father to Bridget Kent, a faithful pop to Chloe Barbee and Callie Glasscock.

Larry, a devoted family man and skilled carpenter, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.  He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and generosity.  With a remarkable 40 year career as a carpenter, Larry instilled in his family the importance of hard work and saving.  He was a loving husband to his late wife Elizabeth, whom he affectionately called Baby Doll, and a devoted father and grandfather.  Larry's love for his family was evident in the way he cherished every moment with them, from cruises and vacations to everyday life.  He was also a passionate animal lover and devoted caretaker.  His generosity extended beyond his family, as he faithfully donated to St. Jude's and helped those in need.  Larry's memory will be cherished by all who knew him, and his legacy will continue to inspire his loved ones for generations to come.

Larry Kenneth Hayes is survived by his daughter, Bridget (Amber) Kent; granddaughters, Chloe Barbee and Callie (Jase) Glasscock; mother-in-law, Wanda Butler; sisters-in-law, Amber Butler and Hannah Knight; brother-in-law, Jerry (Wendy) Nickens; 2nd cousin, Leesha (Shannon) Fischer; niece-in-law, Miranda Nickens; great niece-in-law, Lana Pigg; great nephew-in-law, Hayden Pigg.  Also survived by his best friends, Melvin Thompson, and David Adams.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Zula and Kenneth Hayes, and widowed by Elizabeth Hayes.  Cancer took him from us, but his dignity remains unbroken.
