On Friday, August 2, 2019, Jewel "Dean" Manning of Hanceville, AL, went to be with her Lord and Savior.  Dean lived a long life of 93 years and was loved by many.  She passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family.

She was born on February 24, 1926 to Lillie and Clifford Wright in Blount County and was one of three children – brother Jack Wright (Polly) and sister Audrey West (Clyde) both of Gadsden, AL.  She was a loving wife and was married to Woodliff Manning of Hanceville, AL for over fifty years before he passed away in 2000.

Mrs. Manning was a hard worker and spent most of her life helping her husband and son farm.  If she wasn't farming, she was cooking or working in her garden.  She was known for her excellent cooking skills.    She spent her life taking care of others.  She loved the Lord and was a long time member of Bethlehem East Baptist Church in Hanceville, AL.

She leaves behind her son, Paul (Marcy) Manning of Hanceville, AL; Grandchildren – Wendy Manning Hoomes (Joel) of Trussville, AL and Matt Manning (Tenneill) of Hanceville, AL; Great Grandchildren – Lucas Manning, Macie Manning and Lilly Hoomes; Nieces – Dr. Lynn Wright O' Rourke (Bob); Jacqueline (Jimmy) Hinton and Lisa (Steve) Garmon and many other nieces and nephews.  Mrs. Manning was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother and sister.

She leaves behind numerous other friends and family many of whom lovingly referred to her as "Granny Dean" or "Aunt Dean".

The family will receive visitors at Hanceville Funeral Home, Saturday, August 3, 2019 from 6 to 8 pm.    The funeral will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at Hanceville Funeral Home with burial following at Bethlehem East Baptist Church Cemetery.  The funeral will be conducted by ministers Tim Junkins and Russ Fox.

Pallbearers – each of whom were very special to Mrs. Manning include – Matt Manning, Joel Hoomes, Richie Harris, Billy Davis, Frankie Freeman, and Gary Akin.
