James Alfred Sloan, age 83, passed away Saturday, May 23,2026. He was born July 6, 1942 in Florence, Alabama to Raymond and Mattie Lou Sloan. He graduated from Mortimer Jordan High School. After high school, James served in the Army in the Philippines. Upon returning from the Army he began a 35 year career as a machinist at #1 Machine Shop at ACIPCO. Upon retirement he began traveling and enjoyed living in Fairhope, Gulf Shores, and Arizona.
He settled in Fultondale, and has lived there until he passed. He was preceded in his death by his parents Raymond and Mattie Lou Sloan and brother, Charles Sloan.
He is survived by wife, Elizabeth M. Sloan of over 25 years. He is survived by his brother Wayne (Shirley)Sloan. He is also survived by his children Sandra (Kevin) Parks, Marie (Doug) Moore, stepchildren Marbury Hendon, Edwin Eugene Lambert, and grandchildren, Dana Skipper (Tyler), Luke Parks, Douglas and Danilyn Moore, Christopher and Riley (Hannah) Hendon and great grandchildren Crosby, Alder, and Posey Skipper.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 29th at 3:00 P.M. at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be prior to the service from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at Hanceville Funeral Home.
