Glenda Etheleen Casey Thomas, 92, died in her home surrounded by family on September 4, 2022. Casey is survived by her brothers, Wade (Catherine) Casey and Horace Casey, three children: Terry Thomas (Mary), Jeff Thomas (Lynda) and Phyllis Thomas, four grandchildren: Lauren Thomas, Matt Thomas (Shondra), Rachel Morgan, and Cara Thomas, and three great-grandchildren; Brantley Kate, Parker Cole, and Fletcher, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

At the young age of seventeen, Casey started her career with the phone company. She retired with thirty six years of service.  During her early years with the phone company she traveled with co-workers, danced with strangers, and eventually met her late husband of sixty-three years, Alvin. She took time off from her career to care for her children, then returned to work. In her later years, she was a member of many groups and organizations; Pioneers Service Organization, 91 Club, Quilter's Guild, and the Red Hat Society to name a few. She spent her whole life wanting to serve others, be it tutoring students or making biscuits for a friend. Her love for taking care of family and neighbors was evident in everything she did, as was her welcoming spirit and love for the Lord. Her favorite pastimes were stitching quilts to give away, spending time with family and friends, and traveling around the world with Al.

Visitation and funeral will be Saturday, September 10, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Cullman. Visitation starts at 1:30 in the sanctuary, with the service beginning at 2:30 in the same space. Following the service, a graveside devotion will take place at Hopewell Baptist Church in Hanceville, Alabama with a Celebration of Life to follow. All are welcome.
