Charles Ervin Easterwood, 85, of Bremen, Alabama, passed away on Monday, August 17th, 2026, to enter his heavenly home.
Raised in Bremen, Charles developed a love for athletics, particularly basketball. He and his wife, Evelyn, began their family in Brushy Pond. Throughout his life, he dedicated himself to raising cattle, chickens, and three beloved daughters. Charles took immense pride in his herds and consistently excelled as a top poultry grower. His affection for animals, especially his “pup” and Coco, was evident as he ensured they were well-fed and had warm places to rest.
Charles credited his father, Bernard, with instilling a strong work ethic through experiences at the tire store and in the fields. He passed these values on to his daughters, frequently acknowledging their capabilities as farm hands.
Fascinated by the ways of earlier generations, Charles enjoyed hunting and collecting Native American arrowheads, tools, and artifacts. His interest in antique farm equipment led to an impressive collection of tractors, wagons, and plows, which he enjoyed refurbishing.
An avid reader of historical novels, Charles devoted much of his reading time to scripture. As a long-standing member and deacon of Ryan’s Creek Baptist Church, his mentorship and the example he set as a godly man continue to inspire those who knew him. His commitment to serving the Lord was unwavering, and his legacy lives on through his family and community. Charles never missed an opportunity to demonstrate love, compassion, kindness, and generosity, guiding his family with these values.
Charles is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Evelyn, who was always by his side and cared for him. They celebrated their 65th anniversary on the same day he entered his eternal rest. He is also survived by his children, Lisa (Darren) Allen, Lynn (Nick) Harper, Libby (Jeff) Hill; grandchildren, Justin Haynes, Jesse (Trent) Brown, Chase (Beth) Allen, Austin (Willie) Crider, Garrett Crider, Sydney Crider, Makena Muggeo, and Addison Harper; great-grandchildren, Cullen Brown, Paisley Brown, Stella Allen, Camille Crider, and Lillian Crider; siblings, Betty Staffa and Helen Shelton.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents Amos Bernard Easterwood and Elsie Rena Easterwood, and his sisters, Juanita Childers and Sue Jackson.
Funeral services will be held at Ryan’s Creek Baptist Church at 12:00 P.M. Thursday, August 20th. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. at Ryan’s Creek Baptist Church.
